Can I list my property with Spirit of the North?

Spirit of the North is Canada's cottage rental website. If you own a private cottage or resort you can list your property on our website.

What happens when my listing expires after one year?

We will notify you about your listing expiry 30 days prior to the expiry date. At this time, you will be given the opportunity to renew your listing for the following year.

Why should I list with Spirit of the North?

Our website is the industry's best, we make continuous updates to the website and structure partnerships and alliances to advertise our website which translates into more traffic for you. We advertise in major and local national and international press as well as magazines and search engines.

How quickly can my cottage listing be added to Spirit of the North?

Normally we can get your listing added to Spirit of the North within hours provided we have received your photographs. During our busy season from January to April, things may slow down a bit. If you notice great delays call our office and we will look into your listing.

Do I have to have a website to get listed?

No. You don't have to have your own website to get listed. This is one of the advantages of our listing service. You are on the Internet without any of the hassles.

If I have a website can I have a link to my site on my listing?

Yes you can add your website address to your listing.

Can I access my listing to update the information?

Yes, once you are a member you can access your listing 24 hours a day 7 days a week to make any changes you need.

If I own more than one cottage, can I have a separate listing for each one?

Yes.

I have pictures I can send electronically but I could not find a place to put them on the listing form. How do I send them?

Send them via e-mail to info@spiritofthenorth.com, please include your name and the property's name in the message text. Remember we also publish a printed cottage rental guide so, if you would like to be included in the printed guide book (free with your Internet listing) send us original photographs of your cottage.

I am new to the Internet. What are the benefits of having my listing on Spirit of the North?

Your cottage listing with Spirit of the North maximizes your advertising dollars, offers high visibility 24 hours a day, 365 days per year and gives you access to potential international renters. Imagine the possibilities! You will be online with colour photographs to showcase your cottage and the ability to update your listing any time you wish.

What kind of cottage pictures should I send for my listing?

Pictures are very important to cottage renters. While a picture of the surrounding area might be great, one picture of the interior and one picture of the exterior prove to be greater for generating a response.

I have noticed that some cottage pictures look great while mine don't. Why?

When you list your cottage with Spirit of the North you are required to send in photogrpahs to be added to your listing. For best results please consult our article "How to photograph your cottage". Best processing results will come from us scanning an original photograph so if you have sent in an electronic file, or a photograph from your brochure you may want to consider taking a picture and sending it in.

If I have my own website or pictures of my cottage on the Internet, can you get them from the website or Internet?

Yes we can. In fact to speed up the listing process, just give us the Internet address of your pictures and we will download them to include with your listing.

I am a realtor, can I list my properties with Spirit of the North?

Absolutely! We are developing relationships with a number of realtors interested in displaying their properties with Spirit of the North. Depending on how many properties you represent, you may choose to list them all or opt for your own webpage within Spirit of the North. We would love to hear from you if you are interested. How do I become a member?

You can create a member profile when you list your cottage or resort or fill out a members form. You only need to do this once. Once a member, your membership privileges will allow you to maintain your listing and your membership information.

How do I update or change my listing?

If you have just filled out our cottage or resort listing form and you would like to make a change or an addition, log in the member section using your user name and password and you will be able to view your information as well as the listing(s) you created. You can then edit your listing.

What should I do if I lose or forget my password?

Simply contact us through email or phone and let us know where we can reach you by fax, phone or snail mail and we will contact you with a new password. For security reasons we do not email your password to you.

How often should I update my calendar?

Anytime there is a change in the availability of your cottage it would benefit you to update your calendar. The option to update your calendar is available 24 hours a day and occurs instantly.

Can I update my listing if I do not have access to the Internet?

Yes, you can. Just forward any changes to us by fax or mail and we will make the changes for you.
